Meet the Maker
Designer, Maker & Educator
My roots are in art and design.
Since childhood I have been drawing, making & stitching.
It was a natural progression for me to go on to pursue my interest in art and textiles. I studied Textile Design at Manchester Metropolitan University, specialising in embroidered textiles.
I went on to be a teacher of Textile Design and Drawing in schools and colleges.
I live in Middlewich, a small town in Cheshire, UK, with my husband and two teenage children.
My Creative Process
In more recent times I have been researching the possibilities of quilt making, resulting in a series of samples and completed quilts.
Ideas are developed by making quick sketches & notes; making stitched samples, grouping colours & reading about the history and traditions of quilt making. I am curious to try new techniques and I am building my skills through practice.
I am always inspired by nature & the colours, shapes, patterns & textures observed throughout the changing seasons
I aim to share my love of textiles and inspire others to try it out for themselves. I promote crafting for all ages and abilities and I recognise its’ positive benefits. Whether acquiring a new skill or developing a passion, there is such joy in the activity of making.
I offer workshops and talks to groups and schools. I am a member of the North West Quilters Guild UK.
Being involved with the online crafting community is fantastic! It is wonderful to be able to engage with other enthusiastic quilters and stitchers worldwide. It is a source of inspiration, a place to find encouragement and it’s fun!
