Welcome to Keep Stitching
Isobel Loftus is a UK based textile designer-maker and the creative force behind Keep Stitching. She creates quilts and bespoke textiles for interiors.
Her expertise lies in textile development, colour and stitch. Her designs explore pattern, contrast, and the interaction of colour. She is inspired by the beauty of the natural world, seasonal colours and the landscape. She collects her observations by making sketches and larger painted compositions. By experimenting with combinations of materials, she interprets these observations in a series of stitched pieces.
Quilts are made from repurposed and recycled materials, mostly generated from her own home and family. The challenge is to make a beautiful fabric from limited materials. A careful and resourceful use of materials is integral to her process. Each quilt tells its own story. As she stitches through the layers of fabric she builds a unique cloth which can be handled, used and loved, generation after generation.
Isobel has a degree in Textile Design, specialising in embroidered textiles. She has a long career as a teacher of Textile Design in schools and colleges.
Keep Stitching continues to grow steadily, evolving and developing as experience and ideas demand. Beautiful fabrics are created. New patterns and products emerge, developed to be desirable and attainable by all.
